This month's composer is a modern american composer born in 1958. He began piano lessons at the age of 5 and continued through high school. He continued his musical education at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelors degree. He had started composing music in High School with a jazz piano piece called "Breath of Jazz". Some of his other works include "Sonata in C Minor", "William's Concerto" and "Autumn Dance". He continues to compose music for the piano and has written over 100 compositions. He makes his living as a Piano Technician: tuning, repairing and rebuilding pianos. He also teaches piano lessons in which he compares himself to Franz Schubert in that Schubert was a composer but made money from his lessons and not his compositions. Like Schubert he wishes it were the other way around! Who is this composer?????

If you know who this composer is... be one of the first three to send me an e-mail with the correct answer!

Here is a puzzle for you to print out and solve!

There will be a different one next month!

Good Luck!

March 20, 2010 Recital

I still need input from the 2010 Recital!
All the students performed well and as usual I worried for nothing!

I believe that all who were in attendance had a great time.

However, while it is still fresh in your memories I would like your input. Last year I received absolutely no input about the recital. This year I would like to receive your thoughts and ideas about the recital. What did you like about it and what did you NOT like about it! What can I do to improve the recital? Does anyone have any suggestions about the date and time of next year's recital? Would anyone like to volunteer to help out in planning and running next year's recital?

One of the purposes of the selling of doorprize tickets was to cover the costs of the recital and to perhaps compensate me for the stickers, pencils, prizes, sheet music and books that I give out throughout the year. I really appreciate those of you who supported me in this effort, however, the costs of the recital were just barely met.

I am open to any suggestions so please feel free to e-mail me with your input!

Thank you again so much for what I thought was a great recital.
